What is Almighty God’s will for me and humankind?
Why does it matter that we learn, understand, and do God’s will?
God describes His will in multiple ways in the Bible. His people must study the Bible to learn of His will. It is important to know His will so that you understand how to serve and obey God. It is for His own pleasure and divine purpose that He created mankind, and when people serve God it is pleasing to Him. Let us learn of God’s will now so that we can enter into His kingdom.
Definitions related to God’s will from the Strong’s Concordance:
#2307 – Greek: will, decision, desire, pleasure.
#2308 – Greek: will, decision.
#2309 – Greek: decide, want, wish, desire, and more.
#1012 – Greek: plan, purpose, will, decision, counsel, advised, counsels.
The Merriam-Webster dictionary for will is defined as: desire, wish.
Study 12: The Will of God
Romans 12:1-2
Transform your current thoughts to prove what is good and righteous. The best way to do God’s will is by loving God and each other. The only way to do this, is to study the scriptures. Christ did this, our best example, and he is our teacher. With the Holy Spirit, we see the truth, instead of being led around by lies.
Isaiah 55:6-9
Seek out what God’s will is for us. Before we knew of God’s ways, we didn’t know any of His thoughts, we still don’t fully, but with the help of the Holy Spirit and with the understanding of the scriptures, we can begin to comprehend our God’s thoughts.
Matthew 22:37-39
The best way to do God’s will is by loving God and each other. Everything comes from the heart.
2 Timothy 2:15
Diligent bible study is an example of how to do God’s will. This never ends, as this is work that we will never retire from. The word diligent means having or showing care and conscientiousness in one’s work or duties.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-28
Paul provided practical advice on how to do God’s will to the church at Thessalonica and it is still true for us today.
1 Peter 2:13-20
It is God’s will that we be in subjection to those in positions of authority. Why are we taught to not be meek? Accept what situation you are in and do not retaliate. Not lording over others with the spiritual knowledge that has been entrusted to us. God’s will is to make peace.
Colossians 1:9-12
Understand the will of God by increasing your spiritual wisdom and knowledge.
Ecclesiastes 12:13
In summary, continue to learn God’s will, honor Him and follow His commandments. This is the duty of all people.
